I could open my '94 Jeep Grand Cherokee with my Palm and downloaded universal remote software. Both used IR. Most new cars today use RF.

Most TVs are still IR.

Absolutely. People worried about a high-tech police state in this country should take heed. Bureaucratic, authoritarian, pin-heads can't hope to match the intellect, inventiveness and rebelliousness of American Nerd-Dom.
