Believe me, this is totally bizarre. We do not have the experience in dealing with execution in this part of the country. The murderer truly wants to die - but so many others want him to live.

The lawyer was hired [I think] by his dad who wants him to live. What the liberals are saying is that 20 years of living in a small cell has made him crazy - and he has been mistreated and tricked by mental health staff not to appeal anymore. So that is the defense they have been purporting.

"Capital Punishment is not a deterent. It is not a punishment. But in certain situations, it is like putting out a fire, or killing a mad dog."
Governor Ribicoff as quoted in the Hartford Courant Feb 19,1957.

On the other thread, it says the lawyer he hired to help him die, ignored the fact that the killer wants to live. The judge is dismayed. The victims families get to suffer some more. INSANITY!

Ross execution postponed; Conflict of interest cited

(New Haven-WTNH, Jan. 29, 2005 Updated 1:58 AM) _ Hours after the U.S. Supreme Court cleared the way for the execution of Michael Ross, Ross's attorney asked that the execution be postponed until Monday because of an accusation of conflict of interest. The state granted the request.

Texas' Death Row average stay is ~10.5 years. ~22 inmates have been on DR for >20 years.

That being said, since 1997, when Texas went over 30 for the first time in the 'modern era', the average has been ~2.4 executions / mo.

WE have an "express lane" over at Huntsville. Justice is averaged TWICE a month out here.
