Heeee's baaack!
January 28, 2005
BY MICHAEL SNNED
Rumble is former Republican U.S. Senate candidate/nightmare Alan Keyes is eyeing a bid for governor.
Let us pray for deliverance.
Keyes, whose religious and political views give moderate GOPers the shakes, is not only back . . . he's conducting the first meeting of his "Cook County United" gathering of 40 to 50 of Cook County's best conservative activists in his Loop office tonight!
Don't miss dinner.

I supported Keyes in his run for Senate, but this is definitely the wrong move for him. However, I can see some good coming from this. Normally, O'Malley is painted as being far-right. With Keyes in the race, O'Malley will appear to be a comparitively tame moderate! If not O'Malley, then another true conservative.
Right now, I would be happy to see Pete Fitzgerald go for it. He's not perfect, but the man reeks of integrity, something we have not seen much of from either party in Illinois.

More power to him. With a full campaign and showing people's he's there to stay, he may have a shot. Regardless, he'll have to get passed the primary.

not only moderate GOPer's........he comes off sometimes as a little nuts.....whether you agree with him or not, he articulates but does not communicate and only a mod on a couple things but he scares me.......he really does......
To: KidGlock
No chance he'll defeat Blagojevich, who has a talent for knowing when to sound moderate. His public crusade against violent video games was a good example.

If only RINOs are interested in running for the governorship, I think Dr. Keyes should run in the primary. Conservatives in Illinois should have *somebody* to vote for in a primary. And, if Ray LaHood or whomever wins the nomination, hopefully Dr. Keyes would have kept them honest and the GOP nominee won't be running as Blago-lite in the general election.

My one and only banning from FR came for posting on a Keyes thread with no warning or anything to me.
So, you all will just have to guess what I think about Keyes running again.
To: KidGlock; All
I voted for him in the last race, however, I will not vote for him in the primary.

Conservatives in Illinois should have *somebody* to vote for in a primary. It would be far better if Peter Fitzgerald were induced to run instead.

However, Peter is not going to run.. I would like to seem him and I think he could beat Blago. Blago is to real popular in Illinois. The whole video game ban is just a sham anyway.
