I used to work in banking in New York City. The traders always got the news first. I would call home with earth shaking news that wasn't confirmed until hours later.
I always say when I see rumors with far reaching consequences to look at the market. If it goes up 300 points in hours you know we got Osama. 200 points and we got Zarqawi. A Hillary arrest - priceless. Oh well.
i will be more circumspect in the future but as you wite, we do tend to see news pre-public and this was from good sourcew
