There They Go Again: Hamilton College welcomes cheerleader for 9/11 attackers
Opinion Journal (WSJ) ^ | January 28, 2005 | Unsigned

It's déjà vu all over again. Less than two months after Hamilton College tried to hire a former Weather Underground activist who was indicted in the 1981 Brinks murders, the Clinton, N.Y., liberal-arts college plans to showcase a cheerleader for the 9/11 attacks. Just the sort of thing parents pay nearly $40,000 a year in tuition and board to have their children hear.

At issue now is a panel set for Feb. 3 on "Limits of Dissent?" to be hosted by the college's Kirkland Project for the Study of Gender, Society and Culture. Among the invited panelists is Indian activist Ward Churchill, who teaches ethnic studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder. While Mr. Churchill has caused controversy in the past--founders of the American Indian Movement denounced him as a "white" and a "fraud"--his screeds usually attract little notice outside obscure Marxist Web sites and the like.

I've never heard of someone trying to "pass" as an Indian. Of course, I take full advantage of the government's race-sorting efforts by identifying myself as "Native American" although that blood is pretty thinned out by now, and I know nothing of the traditions of my Choctaw ancestors.

The [Pentagon] and those inside comprised military targets, pure and simple. As to those in the World Trade Center: Well, really. Let's get a grip here, shall we? True enough, they were civilians of a sort. But innocent? Gimme a break. They formed a technocratic corps at the very heart of America's global financial empire--the 'mighty engine of profit' to which the military dimension of U.S. policy has always been enslaved--and they did so both willingly and knowingly. If there was a better, more effective, or in fact any other way of visiting some penalty befitting their participation upon the little Eichmanns inhabiting the sterile sanctuary of the twin towers, I'd really be interested in hearing about it."
Ward Churchill compares the thousands of ordinary secretaries, receptionists, clerks, restaurant staff, etc., who were killed earning an honest day's pay to a mass executioner. To whom should we compare Ward Churchill for getting paid for his dishonest comparison?

You should see some of the ahem "Indians" that show up when their "tribe" is petitioning to get a casino.

This was the same project that had arranged for and defended the hiring of the Weather Underground crim. What would it take to persuade Hamilton to put the project out of its misery? It's turning the school into a laughingstock.

Nothing short of a complete drying up of alumni support is going to put an end to the Kirkland Project. Personally, I haven't given a dime to HamCol since it seized the frat houses, so I've already used up my leverage.

That sounds just like Timothy McVeigh's justification for bombing the Murrah Federal Offic Building in OKC. The only thing missing was the analogy to Luke Skywalker killing innocent civilians when he blew up the Death Star.

"But innocent? Gimme a break."

These kinds of reactions to 9/11 are what made me get the "f" out of the far left. Either they cheered, because two symbols of capitalism got nailed, or they excused it, or they jumped right to the "let's just sing kumbaya with them, and they'll like totally stop and junk." Tons of sympathy for the murderers that flew the planes and scorn for people who were just going to their jobs.

First segment on O'Reilly tonight was about Hamilton. If you missed it and get this message before 11 pm you may want to check it out.

That is if you want to be embarrassed by what I gather is your alma mater. O'Reilly stressed repeatedly

"YOU HAMILTON ALUMNI--DO NOT GIVE A NICKEL TO THIS SCHOOL."

This fall, my 17 year old had to make a choice between attending Hamilton College or Wake Forest University. Thank God he chose Wake Forest!

Thank you and I was glad to see it. It was there when I walked in the door. O'Reilly did an awesome job. He is a Cultural Warrior although I don't like his political takes. Did you notice he said "black mark" and I don't care becuase I paid for my education and that has become the extent of it.

It is also part of the Clintonista playground of NY State and Hamiltons ties to NYC Libs.

Rabinowitz's father is a big time uberliberal guy.

It once offered a very godd classic liberal arts education.
