Did you ever get the feeling the border was better defended by the Alamo than it is today?
Yet, despite the fact that millions of foreigners invade our country, break our laws, rob us of billions in tax dollars and provide cover for terrorists, drug dealers and arms merchants hell-bent on destroying what is left of our civilization, the Bush administration is unconcerned.
Even though the president signed a bill authorizing 2,000 new border agents, Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge said President Bush will not ask Congress for enough money to fund them.
As part of the intelligence bill passed last month, Congress proposed nearly doubling the number of Border Patrol agents by adding 10,000 over five years. But Ridge scoffed at such an increase, saying it would be an inefficient use of homeland security funds.
"The notion that you're going to have 10,000 is sort of a fool's gold," Ridge told USA Today. "It's nice to say you're going to have 10,000 more Border Patrol agents in five years, but what other part of Homeland Security do you want to take the money from?"
Ridge said it makes more sense to pay for a combination of more agents and better technology, such as ground sensors and cameras. But he didn't say he was going to do that. He just said it makes more sense.
I'll tell you what makes sense: Defending borders. Listening to the will of the people. Honoring the rule of law.
These are concepts not understood in Washington.
The same people who are telling us our nation is in a life-and-death struggle with evil terrorists determined to infiltrate and destroy the American way of life tell us there is no need to defend the borders.
I'm no military expert, but it seems obvious to me the first objective in any conflict is to "secure the perimeter." In national security parlance, that is the same as defending our borders. The Bush administration wants no part of this common-sense prescription – even though, according to polls, it would be the most popular political move he could make.
An Opinion Research Corp. survey released last week showed the No. 1 priority of registered voters across the country is border defense and homeland security. It was – far and away – the top military or foreign priority for 43 percent of the respondents. A distant second, at 19 percent, was intelligence gathering. Just 17 percent thought international aid and diplomacy should be the nation's most important objective.
When voters were asked to choose their highest, second and third priorities from the list of issues, and their top choices were combined, defense of U.S. borders was the clear winner at 77 percent.
But Washington doesn't care. The will of the people means nothing to the Bush administration or, apparently, to most members of Congress.
Neither do they care about the rule of law. If they did, they would see that the immigration laws on the books would be enforced. They would look at the U.S. Constitution and recognize that their powers are limited, but that among those powers authorized is the defense of the country.
Ultimately, we can't defend the American people by deploying our military to Iraq and Afghanistan and a hundred other countries around the world. We can project military force there, but we can't protect the lives of Americans. That work needs to be done here at home. And that work starts with the defense of the borders.
I know there is important work to be done in Iraq and Afghanistan – work that is essential to reducing the risk of future terrorist attacks.
But that risk will never be reduced solely through foreign engagement. The most important work needs to be done at home – in securing the perimeter, in defending our borders.

and No Trancedo has not the first clue how to fix the issue. Instead he just screams and yells about no one else doing anything about it either.
This issue is going to be W&CO's undoing, after the next terrorist hit, when it's found they came in through Mexico, and it was preventable.
I'm all for enforcing our immigration laws, but I must point out the illegals aren't technically "robbing" us. There is no threat, no violence, no force. We (with the help of our bureaucrats) are, for the most part, giving those tax dollars to them.
Might be time to start letting the powers that be understand that if they do not secure these borders, the 2006 election may be their undoing.
Bushco is pushing for Free Trade of the America's which would absolutely undermine the idea of borders. The democrats are no better and espouse the same agenda. Vincente Fox has gotten a free ride pushing all the poverty and underclass into the US and avoiding meaningful reform in Mexico. This has to stop.
How to fix the issue....
Before you start mopping up the mess you have to stop the leak. Pretty damn elementary if you ask me. Get the border sealed and guarded as it should be. Probably won't stop em all but I bet you stop the biggest share of em. The expense... hell in the long run it is a bargain. Take a look at Mexifornia. Who is going to pay to mop up that mess?
I'm beginning to believe that Homeland Security is becoming a euphenism around certain corridors of Washington D.C.
The lords see no reason to care about the serfs.

The big push for National IDs (I.E., internal passports), face scanners, bio-chips, retina scans, yadda yadda yadda, but the border remain WIDE OPEN.
Not that, either. You might be able to make a case for breaking and enteri-- Er, no locks, no fence, little or no border patrol, thus nothing actually 'broken' so, I guess we're left with just 'entering.' Trespassing, absolutely. But, the point is, those tax dollars are willingly handed over by our duly-elected and/or -appointed bureaucrats.

But, those tax dollars aren't willingly handed to them in the first place. By the people that own those dollars.The bureaucrats use the threat of force and prison time.
Build a Armed Forces Training Base on the border. There training exercises could be PATROLING THE BORDER. They could use rubber bullets for target practice,and the violent ones for hand to hand combat training. Stop feeding them and driving them back on a bus with air and toons. Point south hand them a jug on water and kick them in the arse.
Exactly. If anyone's doing any real "robbing" it's Congress (I guess on behalf of some of the people who elected them).

I said this a long time ago and I'll say it again. Theres no way we can defend these united States unless those borders are closed down. Enforce the immigration laws.
Put up three fences from San Diego California to Jacksonville Florida. Do the same thing up at the Canadian border as well. The first fence would be 6" within our border (so there's no complaints about the possibility of being into Mexico / Canada) and it would be 30' tall with another 30' buried in the ground. It'd be electrified with razor ribbon all up and down the entire fence. The next fence would be 100 yards inland, 30' tall and 30' buried. In between the two it would be mined heavily. The third fence would also be 30' high and 30' buried, but it'd be patrolled by attack dogs that'd be rotated on a regular basis.
Next take our armed forces and have their training done in that area. Desert training to the south, winter training to the north.
I have a friend who is a retired immigrations officer and he told me of something similar that was done in San Diego years ago. A test fence was erected and it cut the illegals down 90% until they discovered all they had to do was go around the fence.
Of course if all this were done, then there'd be no need for a national ID card or national health care or any of the other socialistic programs and the agencies to run them. Of course the liberals in this Country would scream and jump up and down over such horrific tactic's.

Jacksonville, Florida?? Do you consider everything south of that city to be foreign?
How will you put a fence across the Great Lakes?
Have you developed a cost estimate for your fences? How many guard dogs are needed? How many troops?
Do some more work on that proposal so it will get up to lame-brain status.
