Ice-Cream Man
Read: 1 Corinthians 10:1-13
Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 2 Timothy 2:22
Bible In One Year: Exodus 5-7
Little Jeff was trying his best to save money to buy his mother a present. It was a terrible struggle because he gave in so easily to the temptation to buy goodies from the ice-cream man whenever the brightly colored van came through the neighborhood.
One night after his mother had tucked him in bed, she overheard him pray, "Please, God, help me run away when the ice-cream man comes tomorrow." Even at his young age he had learned that one of the best ways to overcome temptation is to avoid what appeals to our weaknesses.
All believers are tempted to sin. Yet they need not give in. The Lord provides the way to be victorious over evil enticements (1 Corinthians 10:13). But we must do our part. Sometimes that involves avoiding situations that would contribute to our spiritual defeat.
The apostle Paul admonished Timothy to run away from the evil desires of youth (2 Timothy 2:22). He was to keep his distance from the temptations that might cause him to yield because of their strong appeal. That's good advice.
If possible, we should never let ourselves be in the wrong places or with people who will tempt us to do the things we should be avoiding.
Be sure to run from the "ice-cream man"! Richard De Haan
It's wise to flee when tempted
A fool is one who'd stay;
For those who toy with evil
Soon learn it doesn't pay. D. De Haan
We fall into temptation when we don't flee from it.

Since we haven't heard anything else from you, I pray that your sweet wife continues to improve from this heart attack that she had. God be with the two of you, that you both will have the courage and strength to work through it. Father be with her doctors: give them the wisdom and knowledge they need to minister to her and guide their hands as they tend her. I pray she will recover quickly and be home with her family before much time has passed.

Eve is doing very well at this time. We are waiting on more test to see if surgery is needed.
The Dr hopes it can be corrected by diet, exercise and medication.
Thank you so much for your prayers.
Right now she is not suppost to do any thing, not even drive. As we don't know how much activity it would take to set off another one.
We will let you know when we find out more.
We are at home right now. We go back and start test again next week. I have to stay right with her in case anything happens we will be right on it.

Eve...
Thanks for the update! Thanks to the Lord for answering prayers in her behalf. I hope and pray that she will continue to improve and won't have to have surgery. 'Course, sometimes that "diet/exercise thing" is more icky than surgery! ha-ha!

"That picture is just georgous!"Glad you like the graphic :-) Since the weather has been so cold, I thought the graphic would bring a warmness to the day. (though I don't mind the cold, myself)
Save the graphic for yourself, found it on the internet.
Gosh, you were in Thailand not so long ago. Prayers for all affected by the tsunami.

Whoo-hooo, the gift war is on! (and I declare a truce) My goodness, Billie, look what the delivery guys just brought me! I was just watching it snow and thinking how beautiful it was and how much I was looking forward to church tomorrow and how good life was, and then this bouquet arrived from JustAmy and Mama_Bear and Marissa.
I report this most welcome Excessive_Gift_Giving_Violation from three angles, for there are different flowers to behold from different angles, as shown from 3 angles (with some of my quilting in the background if you look closely):

Now who could these flowers be from? When I first saw them, I thought to myself, well, it's so unlike Bill (just not a flower guy), and I really haven't been nice to anyone lately, perhaps it's the neighor whose plants I've been watering while she's on vacation in the Far East? Hmm, that would be excessive . . . . Besides, I asked her to bring me back texiles (hee hee). Perhaps it was from The Thin Man, who had a change of heart and was ready to be kind to you and me? Hmmm, not likely.
Then I read the note -- loves and kisses from Amy, Lori, and Marissa! Why yes, I guess that constitutes me being nice, but they started by being nice first! LOL.
P.S. Aren't they beautiful? I think TTM should be ashamed that the bouquets he gives you are so paltry by comparison. I'm more than a little embarassed, because they must cost more than those cheap gifts I'd give out for contest prizes, LOL, ah, but when I said "they're much too nice for me!" Bill at least gamely responded in support of me keeping the flowers and enjoying them. And, without any need for further persuasion, that's what I fully intend to do.
Thank you, guys!
