Illinois Teens Murder & Dismember Classmate

EAST MOLINE, Illinois -- The dismembered body of a missing East Moline teenager has been found, and a classmate tonight is under arrest for her brutal murder. Sarah Kolb is charged with first degree murder in the death of Adrianne Reynolds, 16.

Prosecutors announced the murder charge at a news conference at Illinois State Police Headquarters this morning.

Authorities believe Adrianne was strangled and beaten with a wooden handle in a car in broad daylight at a Taco Bell parking lot in Moline. Later, her body was taken to Mercer County in an attempt to burn it.When that didn't work, her body was cut into pieces and dumped at Black Hawk State Park.

Authorities made the discovery around midnight.

Adrianne's father and stepmother, Tony and Joann Reynolds had reported their daughter missing when she failed to show up to work after school on Friday.

Kolb and Reynolds were classmates at Blackhawk Outreach Center in East Moline, an alternative school for kids trying to get their GED's. Friends there tell Newschannel 8 that Kolb had made a death threat against Reynolds the day she disappeared, and say Kolb was jealous of the new kid in school. Reynolds had been attending the school for just a few weeks, after coming to East Moline from Texas to live with her dad.

In court today, Judge John Bell read court documents that stated the crime was committed ''while acting with another,'' but so far, only Kolb has been charged.

Kolb, who told the judge today she works at the movie cinemas in Davenport, is being held at the Mary Davis juvenile detention center in Galesburg on $1 million bond.

EAST MOLINE -- Sarah Kolb and Adrianne Reynolds were classmates at Black Hawk Outreach Center. Their fellow classmates remember the chilling threats made the very day Adrianne disappeared.

"[Kolb] had mentioned to a few people that she was going to kill her," said Jackie Martinez, 17. "She [said], 'I don't care.' She told people she wasn't afraid to kill her and she would do it and she's not scared."

Adrianne was the new kid at school just a few weeks. She was trying to make a fresh start and earn a General Education Diploma.

"She was pretty and funny," said Betty Wilson, 16.

And the boys noticed. Wilson says that's what threw Sarah into a jealous rage.

"They just had some problems over boys and Sarah was upset," Wilson recalled.

Wilson said Kolb had been a student here for over a year and was popular.

"Sarah was really nice," said Wilson. "She got along with everyone and all the sudden Adianne came in, and it's totally different, she says, 'I will kill her, I will kill her.'"

Wilson was one of the last people to see Adrianne alive on Friday afternoon.

"I just saw Adrianne and Sarah and two males get into the car. I heard they were going to Taco Bell to get lunch."

Wilson says Adrianne wasn't looking for trouble. She only wanted to make a fresh start, desperate to fit in with the "in" crowd.

"Adrianne really wanted to be Sarah's friend. That was all she wanted."

if you would have read my post, that's something that sarah had stated to another person, as i said.

if you're interested in who i am, my name is jay. i'm eighteen years of age and a commercial artist from north carolina. if you want to "verify" it as best you can, i have my own art studio, artandviolence.com with more information about myself. i've never personally met sarah, i've only talked with her on the internet through the website deviantart.com about her artwork/prose.

my post was not made to defend or rationalize the murder of anyone, as i so blatantly stated. my post was made simply because of the "labels" thrown onto her simply for the way she looks, dresses and/or the music she listens to. my post was not to state that she did not do it or have anything to do with it, my statement was put here to simply show the disgust in which this cast system is developing a biased opinion on that context alone.

to the reply about "mtv," i agree with you, mtv and most television these days -is- trash. i do not watch it myself, nor do many of my friends. i'm a well-educated young adult, not a mind-washed television child. it's sad that so much from a young person is not plausible but in fact that the opposite is expected, but there is nothing i can do about that.

again, my original post's point was this: if this hadn't have been a "goth"-looking kid, i feel the rampant use of "demons" or "devils" or "evil" would not have been so much, and that it's a bit hypocritical and "devlish" of yourselves who have to do so, seeing as "god" has stated all men are equal.

anyway, i still have to read whatever else has been said, seeing there's been twenty-some posts since, but if there's anything else to be stated, it shall be.

I have no connection other than having repaired a few machines as a contractor at Alcoa a few times. In all actuality it [QC] seemed like a pretty nice place--ate at some nice restaurants, stayed at Jumer's (where they even let my big 120 lbs dog stay in my room), met some nice people.

I didn't see that post as defending anything. It looked to me more like a plea for adults who don't really understand Goths from Shinola to avoid pidgeon-holing this girl on the basis of piercings or references in newspapers. People really were talking about "satan worship" and whatnot, and there is really no call for that. We just don't know.

If the quotes in 156 are accurate though, there is an aspect of lesbianism to this that hasn't been talked about much. Is it my imagination, or were these Sarah's words:

i would do anything in my power just to see her smile ... her smile was my sun. she betrayed me, she used me for her own self esteem because she needed a boost, no one cared for her the way i did, and she knows it, thats why she used me because i was the only person who saw her for what she really is ... beauty itself.

Was that the victim she was talking about? Again, we don't know.

well thank you for being a complete smart-ass. the only reason i stated my name was because nativetexun and other's questioned my identity and/or credibility.

this is simply my opinion as everyone else has freely-stated theirs on this board without much problems, but i simply question the treatment and i'm called a un-educated "liberal," i'm questioned as to who i really am and i'm apparently forced into defending murder as a decent act upon others?

I clicked on this thread because it reminded me of an awful story of a kid in Kankakee beheading his girlfriend and bringing the head by her parents' home...and that was way before this sort of thing was "just another crime."

texun, sorry i didn't clear that up.

i didn't say i hope she isn't found guilty. i said i will be dissappointed reguardless if she is -or- isn't found guilty. if she is guilty, judging by the reactions i have just seen on this public board there is a question of a fair trial based on these actions. if she's not found guilty, i will be dissappointed because i personally do believe she committed the crime. she was once a friend, and it's sad to see someone you know go through this, no matter how brutal the crime was. this incident has (probably) taken three human lives, because guilty or not, the two alledged perp's lives will never be the same. and it's sad to see such a thing go to waste.

BTW,the girl accused of the crime doesn't look Goth to me but the girl that was killed looked Goth.I don't know I could be wrong,but my kids have friends that are Goth and they even wear their dark clothes and makeup in school photos.
