EAST MOLINE, Illinois -- The dismembered body of a missing East Moline teenager has been found, and a classmate tonight is under arrest for her brutal murder. Sarah Kolb is charged with first degree murder in the death of Adrianne Reynolds, 16.
Prosecutors announced the murder charge at a news conference at Illinois State Police Headquarters this morning.
Authorities believe Adrianne was strangled and beaten with a wooden handle in a car in broad daylight at a Taco Bell parking lot in Moline. Later, her body was taken to Mercer County in an attempt to burn it.When that didn't work, her body was cut into pieces and dumped at Black Hawk State Park.
Authorities made the discovery around midnight.
Adrianne's father and stepmother, Tony and Joann Reynolds had reported their daughter missing when she failed to show up to work after school on Friday.
Kolb and Reynolds were classmates at Blackhawk Outreach Center in East Moline, an alternative school for kids trying to get their GED's. Friends there tell Newschannel 8 that Kolb had made a death threat against Reynolds the day she disappeared, and say Kolb was jealous of the new kid in school. Reynolds had been attending the school for just a few weeks, after coming to East Moline from Texas to live with her dad.
In court today, Judge John Bell read court documents that stated the crime was committed ''while acting with another,'' but so far, only Kolb has been charged.
Kolb, who told the judge today she works at the movie cinemas in Davenport, is being held at the Mary Davis juvenile detention center in Galesburg on $1 million bond.

EAST MOLINE -- Sarah Kolb and Adrianne Reynolds were classmates at Black Hawk Outreach Center. Their fellow classmates remember the chilling threats made the very day Adrianne disappeared.
"[Kolb] had mentioned to a few people that she was going to kill her," said Jackie Martinez, 17. "She [said], 'I don't care.' She told people she wasn't afraid to kill her and she would do it and she's not scared."
Adrianne was the new kid at school just a few weeks. She was trying to make a fresh start and earn a General Education Diploma.
"She was pretty and funny," said Betty Wilson, 16.
And the boys noticed. Wilson says that's what threw Sarah into a jealous rage.
"They just had some problems over boys and Sarah was upset," Wilson recalled.
Wilson said Kolb had been a student here for over a year and was popular.
"Sarah was really nice," said Wilson. "She got along with everyone and all the sudden Adianne came in, and it's totally different, she says, 'I will kill her, I will kill her.'"
Wilson was one of the last people to see Adrianne alive on Friday afternoon.
"I just saw Adrianne and Sarah and two males get into the car. I heard they were going to Taco Bell to get lunch."
Wilson says Adrianne wasn't looking for trouble. She only wanted to make a fresh start, desperate to fit in with the "in" crowd.
"Adrianne really wanted to be Sarah's friend. That was all she wanted."

Sister Says Adrianne's Murder Left 'Big Space'in Family
KILGORE, Texas -- Adrianne grew up in Longview and Kilgore, Texas. She lived there with her mother until last November when she moved to the Quad Cities to live with her dad.
"It's hard when you lose anyone, but when they're that young it makes it a lot worse, said Adrianne’s grandfather, Gary Gibson.
Nine-hundred miles away in Kilgore, Texas near Dallas, Gibson found out his granddaughter is the victim of a brutal murder. He says the details of her gruesome death just seem unreal.
"I couldn't really believe it, that somebody could do something like that,” said Adrianne’s sister, Courtney Huffman. “It's hard to believe."
"Takes a while for it to sink in," said Gibson. "I can't imagine someone doing something this horrendous."
Courtney is also having a tough time accepting what happened.
"We used to give each other makeovers,” she recalled. “We listened to music."
Adrianne's mother left Texas Wednesday to help plan her daughter's memorial here in the Quad Cities. The rest of her family in east Texas is hanging on to their memories and planning a funeral service for her back home.
"I guess the word that comes to mind when I think of Adrianne is very outgoing,” said Gibson. “She liked people."
And they're all trying to deal with the pain.
"We used to have this big family and now I just feel like there's just a big space in it."
Cory Charles Gregory made his initial appearance in court Friday afternoon and waived arraignment on murder charges for the death of Adrianne L. Reynolds.
Mr. Gregory, 17, of East Moline, was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of murder and one count of concealment of a homicide. Sarah A. Kolb, 16, Milan, faces the same charges for her part in Ms. Reynolds' death. She was arrested Wednesday.
Both teens are due back in court Tuesday.
A man and two women were at Mr. Gregory's hearing Friday and visited with him in the jail afterward. They declined comment afterward with the man saying "Isn't it bad enough?" as he walked out of the jail.
Moline attorney Steven W. Hanna is representing Mr. Gregory but he also had no comment after the hearing.
Ms. Reynolds, of East Moline, was reported missing last Friday. Parts of her dismembered body was found in Black Hawk State Historic Site in Rock Island Tuesday night. Other parts may have been found near Millersburg, a small town south of the Quad-Cities.
Rock Island County State's Attorney Jeff Terronez said Ms. Reynolds was killed during the noon hour Friday, Jan. 21 in the parking lot of the Taco Bell restaurant, 4400 Avenue of The Cities, Moline.
The victim and the two teens accused in the murder were all students at the Black Hawk College Outreach Center in East Moline.
The investigation is continuing. Police say another arrest may be made.
Relevancy to this case yet to be determined but Illinois is one of 15 states that have fetal homicide laws 'where fetuses are victims at any stage of development'.

That's NOT the picture I posted earlier. It was clearly a picture of Adrienne holding up a birthday cake. What happened?
The picture I originally posted to you was indeed that of Adrienne holding up her cake at her 16th birthday party. It appears the Moline tv station site has replaced that picture with a picture of the family but kept the image URL the same so it's now reading the same address but posting the replacement picture of the family now.

Not the high school --- the alternative high school--- and yes ---- all parents working or otherwise. They are required to deliver and pick up their kids or the kid can't attend. Any time a teacher asks for a meeting --- the parent must make arrangements. Uniforms on campus --- students and teachers and zero tolerance for drugs, alcohol, and violence.
It seems harsh --- but it's alternative --- a last chance --- an alternative to the streets.

That's why I think it's best for alternative schools to have very strict rules, zero tolerance, and parental involvement because the good kids that inadvertently end up in them need protection. Here they have to have parents driving the kids to and from because many of the students were involved with drive-by shootings --- you just can't have those kids going in a car together to any school after that.
Some of the better kids just go for a semester and return to the public school and have no more problems --- so they shouldn't have to be put in harm's way because there are true criminals also attending.
One parent told me her son actually felt safer at his alternative school because the rules were so strict-- no fighting, no loitering, just clasroom and study. He was supposedly getting in fights at the public school out of self-defense --- some gang types were starting things with him.
More info on the case--this article identifies the alleged 4th occupant of the car, Sean McKitrick. Quotes from McKitrick in the article. I note a hole in the article--first saying that McKitrick was in the car the day of the murder, witnessed some of the argument, left the car. Further down in the article, supposedly McK saw Kolb & Reynolds the next day?? May be haphazard reporting?
The other noteworthy detail is: ''Police have since arrested both Kolb and Gregory, charging each with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of concealing a homicide.'' So far as I know, Kolb was (initially) charged with one count of first degree murder...so either another count has been added to her charges or the article is in error?
