No wonder there were so many head injuries and contusions, it must have relly thrown people on impact. Makes me wonder if certain people "driving" and important to navigation are harnessed in.

Being "harnessed in" wouldn't have done much good in that exposed section, unless the harnessee was already wearing scuba gear.

Yes, the drivers are harnessed for just this reason.

I served on a fast attack sub, just like this one, for 4 years. Only time the helmsman and plainsmen ("drivers") are strapped in is during major maneuvering events and fast speeds. Don't know how fast this sub was going. Can tell you that people did go flying around on impact.
