KRAKOW, Poland - Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that the Russian authorities will always be counteracting anti-Semitism.
"Russia will always be counteracting all forms of it by the means of law and public opinion," the Russian president said at the forum, Life to My People.
"Auschwitz was a bloody reality of Nazi crimes," said Mr. Putin.
"Soviet soldiers were the first to see the horrors of Auschwitz. They turned off the furnaces of Auschwitz and other concentration camps, and freed Krakow. 600,000 Soviet soldiers sacrificed their lives to save the Jewish and other prisoners," the Russian president said.
"When the world learned about Auschwitz, it was in shock: it was an industrial combine of holocaust, and almost 2.5 million people had gone through this chilling experience," the Russian head of state said.
According to Mr. Putin, "the tragedy of Auschwitz is a warning for the entire humanity, as the Holocaust has shown how easy it is to cross the barrier that separates us from aggression."
"The German chancellor recently said that he was ashamed of the past, but it is the past, and we must be ashamed of the present. Even in Russia that contributed the most in the victory over the Nazi and in the liberation of Jews, we can often see the manifestation of this plague," the president said.
"We are ashamed of it," the president confessed. These words were hailed with a storm of applause.
In his presentation at the forum, the Russian president also said, "Modern civilization is facing other, no less terrifying threats. I mean terrorism."
"I'd like to warn civilized nations: terrorists can only be defeated if double standards are left behind," said Mr. Putin.
"Politicians of the 21st century should seek to preserve life and human dignity - this is the ultimate goal," the Russian president believes.

......Great!
......Now,......that 'is' Christian!
Thank You, Mr. Putin!
Good for him.
Putin is arming Syrians and they will of course defend Israel borders and protect Israel citizens with well known Islamic heroism...
Oh don't worry, they'll accuse him of it none the less. Why bother with facts like 19 idiots in the Duma (out of 450 questionables :0) ) put an anti-Semtic proposition out and are two days later forced by the others to take it back and that these 19 make up 4% of the Duma. Why bother with little details when so many communists journalists are looking for a hit piece angle to hit Putin with. After all, considering the tax and heavy pro-capitalist changes he's put in and made work, how could the MSM not hate him?
There are even Orthodox Jews who reject Religious Truth as the answer to anti-Semitism and insist that this will not happen until Mashiach comes. In a sense they're right (since it is only in the Messianic era that the Kingdom of G-d will become manifest), but what are we to do in the meantime? Embrace liberal secularism? In that case we'll have to decriminalize murder as well as abortion and homosexuality, since they are all religious taboos.
AHH why I don't believe Vlad come think of it Vlad everybody know you could background that always been hard on Jewish community
And Russia always known as porgram states with last Two Tsars of Russia were hard core anti semtrics
And look how quickly you were correct.
Thanks. He's a good guy in spite of all the hate here against him.
Kids who survived the Beslan massacre were invited to Israel and hosted for a number of activities, including counseling for trauma.
Israel was the first and most active country to reach out to Russia after the Beslan massacre.
In Moscow now, children are being taken to synagogues to "plant" good relationships.
20 years ago, Nathan Sharansky was in a Soviet prison. Today when he visits Russia he receives a VIP welcome.
20 years ago, American Jews were not allowed to visit Russia, or if they did come as tourists, they were followed around by the KGB to make sure they did not engage in "anti-Soviet activity."
20 years ago, Jews were forbidden by law to establish new synagogues, circumcise their sons, educate their children in Jewish schools, slaughter animals for kosher meat, build mikvaot (ritual baths), train rabbis. Today Jews have all these freedoms with the enthusiastic blessing of the government.
Anyone who believes that Jewish life in Russia is worse today than it was 20 years ago, needs a serious reality check.
"Putin Promises to Counteract Anti-Semitism"
...by launching his own pogroms?
The problem is that their hatred of Russia or Putin blinds them to all realities other then the fantasy one they choose to believe.
Unless we are already in the Messianic era :)
Sorry. Even Fundamentalist chr*stians don't buy the "spiritual messiah/spiritual kingdom" allegory.
Really?
