In your opinion, was his anger at me justified? Should I have moved over into the far right-hand lane. Or should he have moved into the 3rd or 4th lanes to pass me (without needing to bright me or give me the finger in the process)?

Don't know that anger was justified (it's always better to not get mad), and if there were more lanes to the left he probably should have just passed you and ignored it, but yeah, you should have been in the rightmost lane unless you were in the process of passing a car at the time.

Often the roads around here have the right lane all beat to hell while the left is smooth as glass. Rather than pound the crap outta my car I will drive in the left until someone wants to go by then I let him and pull back after he is gone.

I like to have people go by me at a higher speed since I figure they can attract the interest of Smokie not me.
