30 years ago this road-hogging was rarely a problem. Really. I drove interstates all over the country back in the '70's and while there were always rude drivers, the rule "slower traffic keep right" went largely without saying. We didn't need this law back then.
Today, almost nothing "goes without saying." We are the worse off for it. Now we need laws where civility and common ground once were enough.
Last winter on the way to work following a bad snow storm, on an unplowed 2 lane, in my front wheel del sol, probably 50 yds behind the car in front of me but yet doing the same speed, and finally came up to a stop behind the guy in front at the stop light, some jackass who was tailgating me all the way pulled up along side me and went ballistic! That was the only time in my life that I took my firearm out of my carry bag and locked and loaded it.
sorry for the run-on sentence but proper sentence structure is not required after 8:00 p.m. on Friday nights......
I live in S.E. Michigan and when it snows it gets real ugly till the road crews take effect. If you watch the news reports, virtually all the vehicles you see in the ditches are the SUVs who thought 4 wheel drive stands for anti-ice traction....... These are the stupid SOB's who tailgate you even if you ARE in the right lane........
I drive an old, slow Jeep. I seldom have any place I need to be right away. If My route demands a left turn anytime soon, and I don't nail a spot in the left lane, it is usually impossible to find anyone that will let Me make a lane change. If You tailgate Me, make signs and faces, and blow Your horn, I will slow down even more. I really don't care why You are in a hurry, deal with it, children!
