Personally I tend to think the Shroud is the real thing, however, whether it is or isn't does not change the status of my belief.
Do you really expect the scoffers of Christ to repent, if "science" declares it to be the real deal. Will the Catholic Church change it stance about the old Testament not being history but a bunch of allegory, I won't be holding my breath.

Not all, but some. Many skeptical scientists who've studied the Shroud have converted. And just one conversion would make the study of the Shroud worth it, wouldn't it?
