When faced with the choice of having a building or a having a meeting, the people find out if they're churchgoers or worshipers; they find out what their priorities are.

I agree. But if one is going to cause a schism in the church, the responsible course would be to exhaust all other possible remedies first.

I can't fault that congregation for taking that step, or another for believing that that point has not quite been reached yet.

You know, it's interesting that a denomination of the Extremely Staid is being forced to take on this issue because they are so instituitonal and January molasses-like in making changes. It gives them time to thoroughly vet their stances in regard to God's Word.

As an adult (having left my beloved Episcopal church) I have been taught that one reason a believer can leave a church without ever having qualms is over unrepented heresy. Now, the wise people who have taught that have also admonished to be sure you leave in the timing and blessing of God -- no bitterness, no hate, no motive other than to do what God is leading you to do, in His time.

Alright, already - don't you know you are preaching to the choir?

Take it down a notch, please. I am going deaf!

Many choir members may be unaware of what GOD has said in His book.

(Examples abound in the OT)

"...how will they hear, without the foolishness of preaching.."?

This is a difficult decision for Episcopal churches because the land, buildings, and other material things are retained by the diocese, not the departing congregation.

I seem to remember a story about a rich, young man.................

And another.........

Acts 19:18-20

18. Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed their evil deeds.
19. A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas.
20. In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power.

"The gravity of these decisions call for seeking God's wisdom, discernment of God's will, and the courage to follow it."

A CHURCH? A CHURCH is looking at having the courage to do G-d's will? Whooda thunkit?

Shalom.

Let's see ... Money and property ... Obeying G-d ... Money and property ... Obeying G-d ... Money and property ... Obeying G-d.

Ya' know, I think Jesus had some words that would help with this difficult decision.

Shalom.

This could be fun. Our local Episcopal priestess allowed Gene Robinson to be the godfather of her kids. People are rolling out of that church like it is on fire.

Actually, I think Mr. Robinson's worst sin was abandoning his wife and kids for sexual fun and games. That the Episcopal Church could even consider letting a man like that shepherd a congregation embarasses me no end.

Shalom.
