MEXICO CITY - Mexico may turn to international courts in an effort to block a new Arizona law limiting services to illegal immigrants, Foreign Secretary Luis Ernesto Derbez said Wednesday. He said in a radio interview that Mexico might take such a step after it has exhausted all possibilities under U.S. law to halt Proposition 200. "We are seeking all the legal opportunities that exist, first using the legal capacities of the United States itself and ... if that does not work, bringing it to international tribunals," Derbez said. advertisement He did not specify to which international bodies Mexico could appeal. Mexico's Foreign Department and lawmakers have repeatedly complained about Proposition 200, which voters approved in November. The measure requires proof of citizenship to vote and proof of immigration status to receive some government benefits. Derbez said the government already has made a verbal protest to the United States and now will file a written protest at the request of Mexican lawmakers. He did not say when it would be issued. He expressed regret that, according to polls, about 40 percent of Mexican-Americans in Arizona had supported the measure. "It's sad and it gives an idea of how we have to work to educate even our own Mexican-Americans about why it is important that these proposals are not accepted," Derbez said. In December, the Foreign Department issued a statement expressing "complete rejection" of the proposition, calling it "a measure that could generate actions of discrimination based on ethnic profile."

Someone needs to do some research on this bit: "We are seeking all the legal opportunities that exist, first using the legal capacities of the United States itself"
What exactly is he referring to? Something in the future, or something they've done in the past?
If he's referring to something they've done in the past, has Mexico brought suit in U.S. courts about Prop. 200? Or, could they be saying that their proxies have brought those suits? MALDEF has brought several suits. Could MALDEF be working with Mexico? Or, could some other U.S. group be working with Mexico?
There's the possibility he's just referring to something they're going to do in the future, but there's also the possibility U.S. groups are working with a foreign government. Someone needs to find out exactly which it is.
Actually I think this is almost pure desperation on the part of the corrupt oligarchs who very much fear a Revolution and the overthrow of their corrupt government. Then they have to flee to exile in Europe --- and be cut off from all the vast wealth of Mexico which flows so easily into their pockets -- and Swiss bank accounts. They'll never see that kind of money again.
Hardly --- our leaders never stand up to these clowns. Vicente Fox should have been slapped down the first time he came strutting over here demanding "the whole enchildada". They're building their government offices all throughout the USA, they are gaining incredible power here ---- already one-fifth of Mexico's citizens are living in the USA.
*I* think so. Glad to hear you do too. ...That's TWO of us.
Amazing. What it gets right down to is that American taxpayers have no obligation to PAY for the hospitalization, schooling and welfare of foreign nationals from other countries who came here illegally.
This concept is really just common sense.
How this guy thinks that an extra-national "force" can impose unfair taxation on a US citizen is beyond me.
We should just nuke mexico.
Thanks for passing this on. Question: when you see events unfolding as they are, do you sometimes think it's almost orchestrated to a degreee to mirror bibilical end times scenarios.......the result being to keep the vast majority of Christians neutralized?
Rest assured there are a LOT of us...
...Well that's good, but I don't 'rest assured' much any more...
Have you seen this...??? http://www.minutemanproject.com/AboutMMP.html
...so, I guess we've got about another twenty years... unless 'someone' starts getting something done...???

We have nothing to worry about with the government bending over to any foreign court or tribunal (and blocking the proposition that passed). Not going to happen.
The problem is what our government on its own will do (or fail to do) about the illegal immigration issue in general.

The chancellor referred that the government already made a protest but only through a verbal diplomatic note and now will make in writing at the request of legislators the eve during an appearance. He did not need when he would send the note. Law prohibe aid to undocumented people Derbez assured that Mexico began to fight against the proposal long before being approved and will maintain that actitud.Lamentó that the proposal has been supported by a 40% of Mexican-Americans who are in Arizona. "It is sad and it gives an idea of how we must work to educate until a our own mexico-Americans of because it is important that these proposals are not accepted", indicated. Proposal 200 prohibe that migrantes undocumented people receive benefits of state social programs, nonfederal. According to the law, a migratory test of estatus is required when benefits are asked for public in the matter of education and health.
Lets see Mexico and whatever international body enforce its edicts inside the USA!
Mexico better back off, we kicked their a**es once and we can da*n sure do it again if we have to!
This is what happens when both political parties bend over backwards for these people and support their illegal invasion of the USA!
That goes triple for George W. Bush!!!
Assuming the translation is good, it's a pack of lies.
There are only 5 aid programs denied to illegals, and they are laughable. Well, according to the AG, Prop 200 only applies to five programs.
Another lawsuit is in the works to increase the scope of the AG's opinion.

True. And some 24 of my ancestral relatives (with same surname as mine - not a common one) fought in the Revolution. One of them was in the detachment from Glover's regiment that manned the boats that got Washington and his troups across the Delaware for their Christmas Day, 1776 assault on the Hessians at Trenton - a battle that changed the course of the American Revolution.
