Most of of those attacked the old-style system software, which has not been installed by default on new Macs for about the last three years.
Moreover, the old Mac software got a lot more secure as it progressed from System 6 to System 9, and was never, not ever, as leaky and insecure as Windows has always been.
The remainder of the Mac viruses are Visual Basic programs which are spread by (big suprise) Microsoft program attachments e-mailed from Windows computers. These don't normally work on Mac anyway.
I've been using OS X for two years, and in that time I have not had even one virus or spyware, and about one-twentieth the crashes of the best Windows system I ever had.
People who think they are saving money by buying Windows are stupid idiots, unless their time is worth a dollar an hour. I would buy Macintosh if it cost ten times as much-- make that forty times as much-- as Windows, because my time is too valuable to waste on cleaning up virus and spyware infestations and chasing down driver incompatibilities.
