The Bracero program was an attempt at a guest worker program and it failed. It didn't stop illegal immigrants, it make the matter worse and that is why it was finally stopped. Now, we want to try it again, and, I am sure, with the same results in the long run.

I agree with you. I think that we should take the rewards away and put pressure on corrupt governments on the other side of our southmost border and get them to understand that they have to shape up.

Good afternoon.
I seem to remember the Bracero program working very well until the Marxists decided it was demeaning to the workers. When Bracero went away
the constant stream of illegal immigration increased to a flood and is now a tsunami.
There were no monies owed to these people for retirement any more than the Okies who worked the same fields as the Mexicans were owed money other than Social Security. The Mexicans were not citizens and Social Security was not taken from their wages.
Of course I stopped working in the fields when I graduated from high school and that is a long time ago so my memory may be faulty.
