The article is about what our government owes them and their "heirs". Did you read it?

Yes. Apparently you didn't.

Ten percent of the braceros' pay was withheld and deposited in savings accounts for return to the workers when they went back to Mexico.

According to U.S. officials, the deductions were deposited in the Banco de Mexico, which transferred the funds to the institution formerly known as Banco Agricola and now called Financiera Rural.

But the money never found its way back to the workers and Mexican authorities now claim they have no record of the deposits. The former workers are urging Fox and Mexico's Congress to find a way to pay them what they are owed.

Ten percent of the braceros' pay was withheld from them and deposited in savings accounts. They (or their heirs) earned that money. What's so difficult to understand about that?

" What's so difficult to understand about that?"

NOTHING. You're pushing on an open door, bud. Find someone else to nitpick. You have no arguement with or from me. You started this NON conversation.

Well, I guess they're hoping that the deposit receipts are in a filing cabinet somewhere in Washington. The bank claims they have no record, so, it's up to someone to prove that the deposits were made as agreed.

you know, that is between Fox and the workers..we did what we were supposed to do for the illegals...why do WE have to be accountable for what the corrupt Mexican gov. does? We are doing them a service and they must look to the Mexican gov. for their money.

It doesn't matter whether they think that I understand it or not. The rule of law is what creates the prosperity that millions of outsiders want. It all falls apart when they bust up the law so as not to apply. Benefits go bye bye.

Also, if US citizens started boycotts of companies employing unauthorized trespassers, there might be an impetus to change the way the work is done by using more machinery.

First off, they weren't "illegals." Those Mexican people were working in the United States with government permission.

But yes, their beef is fundamentally with the Mexican bank - like I said, maybe they hope the deposit receipts are in a filing cabinet in Washington, D.C.

Receipts!? We don't need no stink'in receipts!

Echoes of "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre"

Why should the U.S. cough up the $$$ when it is clear the corrupt Mexican banking system Stole the money. Of course the Banco de Financial Rueen (Ruin) would destroy any receipts issued, knowing we would file our copies in the storage crates in the same warehouse with Indiana Jones' Ark of the Covenant.

Hey maybe we can get Janet Reno to run security for the Ranch when the protesters show up. She knows how to handle things as we learned in Waco. (no I don't mean setting the Ranch on fire, I mean the protesters.)

President Bush may not be home, ABG:

But a Secret Service Detail is.

I guess the Dem/Lib/Zombies must like hanging out at empty places. When they should be working and earning a living.

Though, I'd really like to see an equal number of INS agents patrolling the ranch in Crawford.

Jack.

But it was the Banco de Mexico that ripped them off.
