This vote against Rice by Evan Bayh is unexpected. It only makes sense if he is keeping his options open for a POTUS bid in '08.

I'm from IL and I'm ashamed of our senior Senator Durbin. This man has done nothing for this state except be a political ambulance chaser for the Democratic party. I see our Jr. Senator Obama voted yes for Condi. I heard a sound clip from him last night on the local radio and his tone was different from Durbin's. I just know "Dick" will start trying to manhandle Obama on the political stage and try to keep him in step with the old left line. Dick and the other 11 Dems represent the old guard of the Party. Look at Ted Kennedy and how he can't even remember Obama's name. He called him Osama.... I plan to work hard against Durbin in his reelection. The push should be to get these 12 Dems voted out of office in the next four years. They are the majority of the problem for this nation.

The only surprise for me, Evan Bayh of Indiana. He has the reputation of being a moderate, often touted as a presidential possibility, and frankly, he's the only democrat I thought capable of giving us a good run in 2006.
Maybe this vote signals he IS in the running, and he's taken this vote to get kudos from the far left of the party.
