I know a lot of people responded to it that way. I just thought it didn't add anything to the discourse about that subject. And the framing device at Arlington was completely un-needed and dramatically superfluous. At least the epilogue in SL was with the actual people.

I don't know. It seems to me that the scenes in Normandy were necessary, in that it was not until Ryan saw those graves he realized the sacrifice these people had given for him, and how he questioned if he was really worth it.

A very, very powerful movie.
