A SAM or AAM might be a better choice than the hellfire AGM.
Hellfire would be pricey, Quad 50's or or the 30mm chain gun on the nose of an Apache would be more cost effective. And I too vote for this application. Protecting the country from invasion Bump
Maybe, but that's an air to ground antitank weapon. Hitting an aircraft in flight is harder. A sidewinder (AIM-9) or, for smaller launching aircraft, an air launched Stinger would be more appropriate, and effective.
