WASHINGTON - Why did Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi suddenly decide to give up his doomsday weapons? Sen. Joseph Biden (news, bio, voting record), D-Del., said Wednesday he posed that question to Gadhafi during a meeting in Tripoli last year. Biden described their discussion to Condoleezza Rice (news - web sites), President Bush (news - web sites)'s nominee to be secretary of state, at her Senate Foreign Relations confirmation hearing.

What could he say? That Mohamar was afraid of Hillary winning in 4 years?

Biden cited his encounter with Gadhafi in urging Rice to open negotiations with Iran on ending the country's suspected nuclear weapons program.

What unassailable logic!!

Biden really pressed Rice about a deal with Iran and studiously avoided the fact that we had toppled Saddam..giving Gadhafi great incentive to give it up.

Gadhafi saw the kind of dental exam Sadaam got from the US Army, played over and over on TV...

Gadhafi was, Biden said, "the most candid guy I ever spoke with."

Hey Plugs - give me a call - I'll be real candid with you, you POS.

Do you think Biden and all of the other "Ranking" committee members are bitter that they will never be Chair persons of the committees? After all Four years of President Bush and then the continuing dominance of the Republican Party in both houses relegates them to PERMANENT ranking member status.

At least Moammmar knows the French are weasels. See, even he gets it. Look at the numbers he gives. We pay for our goods and we don't plunder. The Eurowienies accuse us of plundering the globe, but it sounds like we pay our way and the accusers are the real culprit again.

I watched Biden's little act during the Dr. Rice hearing and thought the man was totally out of his mind.

Rambling, outright lying, and utter stupidity.

Diminishing our government in the eyes of the world, very dangerous.

CSPIN is available all over the world, if I am not mistaken.

Gadhafi was, Biden said, "the most candid guy I ever spoke with."

He probably had no idea what a sniveling horse's ass he was talking to.

"I can have American oil companies in here pumping the oil out of the ground," ... Gadhafi said he prefers dealing with Americans as opposed to, say, the French. "You make a deal with the French, they say 90-10 and they take 95. The Americans, you say 50-50, they only take 50," ...

The main thing I get from the article is that Moammar is a lot smarter than Biden. That's neither a surprise nor a great compliment.

"You make a deal with the French, they say 90-10 and they take 95. The Americans, you say 50-50, they only take 50," Gadhafi said, according to Biden. Gadhafi was, Biden said, "the most candid guy I ever spoke with.""

Biden reported Gadhafi as saying, if he used nuclear weapons, "you'd blow me..."

I think Biden is easy. Let him talk long enough, and he starts agreeing with you on everything. He just loves to talk and he loves a captive audience, and he loves to be admired for his intellect.

All he wanted was for Condi to brag on him a little, and he would have melted in his chair. He would have kept on talking, though.
