I just finished watching this dangling drip of snot called "The Fog of War" staring the Strange one himself Robert Strange McNamera and I am one p#ssed off Ranger. This entire film was a presentation to vindicate Robert Strange McNamera from the guilt he and Landslide Lyndon shared in the indecision that cost the lives of 58,000 men in Vietnam. By simplly listening to the taped conversations between those two traitors you can tell who got left behind........WE DID, and they could have cared less.
If you really want to see this garbage then go ahead, but be careful, you'll need an emesis basin. Bobby boy is a very guilty man, and it shows, but his blatent liberalism shows as well. He portrays himself as a victim not as the cowardly bastard that he really was. The most worthless pantload to ever serve as Secretary of Defense gets about an hour and a half to show how he killed 25,000 men (His quote. At the end of his tenure 25K had died, but he was responsible for all 58K).
I'm sick and tired of these idiots trying to blame everybody else for their cowardace. Take the blame or shut up! He also attemps to besmerch the name of Curtis LaMay. To all you Nam vets, don't watch, make love to your wife, fix a chair, go hunting, do something else. This drivel is a waste of our time.
I knew better than to waste 15 seconds watching anything that ass had to say. As is usual the lefty's (and McNamara was a lefty) do really dumb crap then explain it all away by blaming everyone else.
The basic fact is that they lost their political nerve and then compounded their stupidity and cowardice by interfering in the military operations. I remember stories of LBJ spending the day picking out targets for the Navy and Air Force to bomb
Asses!!!!
Yep...bawls a a baby over JFK getting shot, but not a tear or any sign of emotion over all the boys he sent over there, nor for any that died in the firebombing of Japan for that matter.
Amen Marine. He spent 4 seconds on Ka Sahn....Marines die, but they don't give up. God bless you all Marines. We need you now more than ever.
Was Mac part of the Kennedy Administration too?
I read his book, what a self serving piece of crap that was.
Oh yes.
Yes, he was, and he was a incompetent a$$hole then too.
"He portrays himself as a victim not as the cowardly bastard that he really was."
Pithy and poignant.....You go dude. Telling it like it is.
Nixon bombed the hell out of Hanoi for a few weeks and the commie bastards started talking peace.
Democrats have no idea how to win a war.
Yeah, and he was also the one for screwing up the Department of Defense by forcing numerical analysis and bean counting into its military planning and operations. Remember the infamous "body counts" and such? To a great degree, DoD has not recovered from his tenure, since the bean counters still run things there.
I had to look up "emesis" . . . LOL . . . but you're probably right. Good word.
Sorry for the early AM review, but I need to vent my anger!
You and your brother and sister Viet-Vets have every reason to be angry. But not just at McNamara . . . I, too, let you down . . . to my eternal shame. Just as the rest of the SILENT MAJORITY let you down when we allowed the Liberal Hate-America'ers to spew their filth unchallenged.
I was just a pup in the late 60's and early 70's . . . but I could've and should've spoken up for what I believed in. And I damn sure should've raised all kinds of hell when the first warrior was spit on!
But I didn't. I felt helpless. The Walter Cronkites and Dan Rathers of the world had a total monopoly of the press and I felt there was no way to get my message out. But there was . . . somehow . . . I just didn't have the courage and dedication you Vets showed.
Like most Americans . . . I just remained silent. I abandoned you. I allowed you and your reputations to be sullied for thirty years . . . I'm sorry . . . I'm truly ashamed.
But I vowed then to NEVER make the same mistake again. That's why I fight as hard as I can for our current-day Warriors. I will never, never, ever make that mistake again!
The SwiftBoat Vets showed us what you Viet-Vets are made of. Even now you're willing to fight on the frontlines for what you believe in. I salute you, sir.
And I will honor your review and not even watch a commercial for The Fog of War.
Hey, hey, hey! You didn't let us down. You admitted, you were just a "pup". You were the people we were sent to protect and defend. You were the generation of Americans that we are counting on now to protect and defend us old bastards. You see how that works? Every American gets his turn. You take yours, and I'm proud to be protected and defended by you.
I DESPISE JFK! I would love NOTHING better that to piss on that STUPID "eternal" Flame at Arlington. JFK was the MSM's baby and everyone that was in his debacle(admin) get foreverly fawning treatment in the MSM. In 1963 JFK had around a 40% approval rating and prob would have lost the 1964 election. LBJ was elected by the sheeple as a sympathy vote for the boy idiot JFK! O and by the way JFK was DIRECTLY responsible for the Cuba Bay of Pigs screw-up as well.
You're absolutely correct, and thanks for the historical input.
Just goes to show that age and wisdom are not synonymous. Hell, I once did a PLF into 3/4 ton. Volunteered for a recon unit with 101st in Nam; and even told my wife the truth about a new hair style, once. But I'm not dumb enough to watch ANYTHING that the Whiz kids King of Whine has to say! :)
Face a bully with courage and resolve and he will back down, kick his a$$ and he'll go away forever. The enemies of this nation need to see a whole lot more of courage, resolve, and a$$kickin' right about now.
JFK was President SO "The Buck Stopped There"!
+ I get SO tired of JFK ALWAYS getting a Pass because he was killed! He was a lousy president!
I saw the movie about six months ago, so it's a little fuzzy to me now, but I thought it was excellent. The film-maker/interviewer allowed the true McNamara come through as he is; a tormented soul. The camera technique was captivating.
The thing that struck me was that RSM remarked that he though JFK was about to reduce troop strength in Vietnam and that he, "loved and respected" him. Later in the documentary, talking about LBJ, who he said he, "loved and respected," also said he supported LBJ's massive increased troop strengths in Vietnam. RSM needs to be a tormented soul for not standing up for something.
So, YOU were the guy! Damned glad to meet you. I was 101 Ranger and we heard stories about them VOLUNTEERS. Just never heard of one that was alive. Congrats on your survival.
