Press Corps Booed at Inaugural Parade
NewsMax ^ | Jan. 21, 2005 | Fr. Michael Reilly

Posted on 01/22/2005 11:36:21 AM PST by Hugenot

After attending President Bush's inauguration, NewsMax.com's Fr. Mike Reilly reports on a part of the inaugural parade you won't hear covered on the nightly news.

The well-dressed, refined ladies and gentlemen from across the United States who traversed the streets of Washington this week for the president's inauguration stood in sharp contrast to the hordes of demonstrators sporting grungy jeans and do-rags.

While the crowd at the inauguration ceremonies at the Capitol showed great respect to former Presidents Clinton and Carter, the demonstrators shouted obscenities to those attending the inauguration. One demonstrator shouted "F*** you" to Fr. John Wroblewski, pastor of St. Anthony's Church in Staten Island, New York.

Imagine what the inauguration would have been like if their man Kerry had won!

Based on the local Washington coverage, however, one would think that the inaugural ceremonies were staged to interfere with the protesters. One of the local networks gave better coverage to a man who had a lawn sign proclaiming "Bush is still an idiot" than they gave to the president's inaugural address.

So it should have been no surprise that the crowds at the White House reviewing stand for the parade actually booed as the press pool drove past. While Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld undoubtedly enjoyed the reaction of the spectators, the press corps was visibly shocked.

When NewsMax asked Secretary Rumsfeld if he was going to be replacing Dan Rather at CBS, he replied with a simple "No," to the delight of the crowd.

One of the local networks

Somebody either doesn't know what local means, or doesn't know what network means.

I'm having trouble envisioning exactly what the situation was. Did Dan Rather and Peter Jennings walk past the crowd and get tomatoes thrown at them? I can't tell from the article what actually happened to who.

I saw Dubya when he came to Maine this fall, and a New York Times reporter pushed in way through the crowd very close to where I was. The guy had a lot of guts, let me tell you. Folks were not saying to him: "Hiya, how ya doin'"

This does not surprise me in the least. All one has to do is visit the ant farm (DU) and all they do is wail about the Republican voters, "How could they do this to us! They are so full of hate! Those vile Republican's are the reason I am an asshat!" It seems that every single one of them took a vote for Bush as a personal affront.

Maybe this was shorthand for "One of the local network affiliates."

Since perverts are by definition insane and imbued with madness, this is understandable, if not forgiveable.

The sad part is that it is so common and apparently evenly distributed across the country. Perhaps they were all imported? If so, how do they finance their travels?

I suppose "network affiliates" would have been more appropriate, but who's quibbling?

Last evening I was looking for the CSPIN program replaying the National Cathedral Ceremony.

One of my CSPIN stations had a woman on who was outraged that the President is not following the constitution with respect to Separation of Church and State.

She opened her comments by saying......that thing that crawled out from under his rock and took the oath of office........

Brian Lamb has disgraced himself and the entire concept of why CSPAN was created in the first place.

C-SPAN's call in shows are a big joke. However, it gives the loonies an opportunity to embarrass themselves, which is a good thing.

I don't recall what channel I was watching at that given moment, but the reporter was audibly stunned to see Rummy get a hero's welcome.

Many of the callers are prepped by talking points from the DNC. They give other lunatics comfort.

IMHO, this is dangerous for the president.

So Americans love Rummy. Hate the MSM.

Who would have thought?

The surprise is that they are called a press corps. They are "privileged gatherers of information associated with the Democratic Party or other special interest group."
