Well I agree with that actually. I know 3 adult children who went to the same therapist and all "recovered" the memory of being molested by their father. I am suspicious to say the least. But they did not have all the other symptoms in between the supposed abuse and the recovered memory, so how do you confirm it? I don't. I've seen the real thing -- more than once -- and it is devastating.

Anecdotelly, I have a friend who is the child of a very violent alcoholic mother. She cannot recall much of her younger years. It is a defense mechanism, to my mind.

Having been a victim of rape, I can say one does not "recover" said memory.
