Ther are looking at it the right way if you ask me. But then I am no expert!

I am just glad they are doing it and the Generals in charge of buying are right there during testing. This make me feel better, I imagine it will make the troops feel safer as well. At least I hope so!

It's absurd that military vehicles don't have features that are standard on even the least-expensive civilian vehicles, yet they cost so much more.

This sounds like a step in the right direction, but it's a perfect example of why I don't want the government handling my health care, retirement funds or anything else the free market offers.

My childhood school district was bigger than Rhode Island, but so what?

They now got the prototype of the new suspension, just as you mentioned before. It might only increase the survivability by an inch for the hummers but great news isn't it?

"Stung by criticism that its Humvees and larger transport vehicles are out of step with fighting an insurgency in Iraq, and with soldiers still being killed and maimed by roadside bombs"

There is already a vehicle suited for this stuff. It is called a "tank".
