You mean we haven't proven the Speed of Light? Or that the Earth's Gravity attracts at 9.8m/ss?! The speed of light varies with the medium and gravitational influence.
The acceleration is not constant but depends on the altitude. "g" will be different in LA than in Denver.

Surface gravity also depends upon the density of the mass of the Earth at a specific point. A few years ago NASA published a "gravity map" of Earth showing the different surface gravities on the planet:
