***Perfectly acceptable terminology***
Yes that term is used, but but all due respect - it shouldn't be. I'm sick and tired (and we all should be) of gun ignorant 'journalists' spewing anti gun tripe and incorrect tripe at thats, as in...
- He emptied 'the clip'.
It AIN'T A 'clip', it's a magazine.
- 'Hi-powered' rifle.
Now WTF is that supposed to mean?!? What's a 'low-powered' rifle? I have a 9mm Carbine, is that low-powered or hi-powered? Never mind, to these 'jounalists, its an "assault rifle". Plus any hunting rifle is "hi-powered". A freaking .22 Magnum is 'hi-powered'.
- Semi-Automatic "revolver"
That's usually spewed by a female 'journalist'
- 'Chrome plated' (revolver-pistol).
Uh can you say "NICKLE" you morons.
- And the always irritating... 'Assault Rifle'.
To these 'journalists' almost any rifle with a "pistol grip" is an 'Assault Rifle' And any rifle that 'looks scary' definitely is one to them. It could shoot BB's and they'd STILL call it an 'Assault Rifle'. Never mind that 'Assault Rifles' are fully automatic, that's just a minor FACT to be ignored.
- Then there's the, "the assailant used/had an 'AK-47' "
These jackasses DON'T know an AK-47, from an SKS OR an AK-74. And many times the follow up article has a correction like the bad guy actually had a Shotgun!
So it might be 'acceptable', but not me. These 'journalists' are not posting on Blogs where they're constrained by time (like they have to get back to work) and thus have to omit a few 'assumed knowns' by those reading it.
Ergo, get it right or don't write about the subject.
