Wife offered me a 416 a few years ago. Just couldn't justify it without a few trips to the great white north. 375 might do the trick too.
I really like this 45-70. Holds 9+1.
If I was going to use something like the 45/70, I would go to the new 44mag. carbine Ruger makes. You can keep shooting the bear. I don't really remember how close the ballistics are on the two. Seems like the 45/70 had a 300 grain bullet and the .44 mag had a 230 grain but had a little more velocity. Its been a while since I looked at that stuff. But being able to keep pulling the trigger is nice.
