Actually the bear part is more true than a joke.
The Eco nuts are really unbeleavible at times. You can't reason with them. Most of them have fried their brains on drugs.
We had a an incident where I live where a guy shot it out with law enforcement. He was finally shot several times and killed. We had a woman on a talk radio program that stated that as soon as the police realized he was out of buck shot they should have gone to bird shot like he did.
The only problem is that these people's votes count just as much as a sane person.
How big was the bear, was it a grizzly or black bear?
OK, I'd consider a 416 for something that size.

If I remember correctly, that beast was measured out and was 14 feet tall when standing erect. Also, the youngster in the picture who bagged him was a USAF NCO at the time.
I have the rest of that photo sequence on a different computer.

Well, as a representative of the lollipop king, I can assure you he is not one of us. Hobits, however, are another story.
I wouldn't go after a grizzly without anything smaller than some type of .35 cal. Mag. A .340 Weatherby would be one of my first choices and I would try and shoot it in the back at least 100 yards away or more.
I have never been able to understand how two intelligent people could be so stupid. The whole thing reminds me of the husband and wife who filmed their deaths in Africa while posing with lions. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Hi Army Air Corps :) We live in the Interior of Alaska. A couple of years ago my husband and I were on our four-wheelers on a trail known for having lots of bear traffic. We had been admiring the fresh tracks of a rather large grizzly when I noticed the change in the tracks. We stopped to check out the situation and I told my hubby that the bear appeared to have become confused, or concerned...because the tracks heading north stopped abruptly and the bear had obviously circled around, back and forth along the trail, before deciding to get off the trail and head down into a gully. We continued on and as we rounded the next bend in the trail we came upon a lone hiker....a man from Outside. We now knew why the bear had veered off. We asked this fella what he was doing and he said he was "bird watching". We told him about the tracks we had just seen, and that he really shouldn't be out hiking alone, unarmed, and he acted like it was no big deal. We wished him well (I said a silent prayer for his ignorant soul) and we continued on our way. To this man's credit I will admit that when I looked back to see whether he was continuing on his trek, I saw that he had turned back and was heading down in a rather lively sprint. LOL
