Yep, that's his name. He's had a LOT of scandals involving his security detail. Most of them seem to be his high-school football buddies, and in 2002 a few of them were especially dedicated, racking up week after week of 21 hour days, seven days a week. Just this past week he used city funds to lease a Lincoln Navigator for his wife for one year at the two-year rate (essentially overpaying for an entire year since the dealer couldn't lease it for less than two years, but Kwami could only appropriate the money for one). He's a real piece of... work.
I believe his mother is a representative in Washington. One of the mayor's body guards roughed up a Detroit TV reporter while the mayor was attending a convention in DC this week. The bodyguard actually pushed the reporter across a hall and slammed him into a door. It was quite ugly to watch. The reporter is the one who broke the story of the mayor leasing a Navigator for his wife, while at the same time announcing cutbacks (700 jobs) in the city. The reporter produced copies of the lease. The Navigator scandal has been going on for a month.
