10:00 pm update.. New ETA In and it's Stronger with more precip as expected....And shows an all out blizzard in the major cities....
Given that the past two clippers were under forecasted by the ETA and GFS until late in the game, I'm not surprised to see the ETA this evening showing a much stronger surface low and more precip across, especially in Philly where a solid foot still looks good. I am not going to make any changes to my snow forecast given the ETA showing just what I expected. I still the high side to the storm will be a foot although I can see 15 inches in places. I guess it does not matter once you get to a foot...
I may waffle a little on the high side of the numbers, but I'm doing my best to stay consistent with my numbers and I feel very confident that the area of snow outlined will be ok. I still think that NYC will get a solid foot of snow in central park as will areas across southern New England.
Just remember folks, don't get fixated on the amount of snow. Understand the impact of the storm on travel and life. Where it's snowing from the midwest to the mid-atlantic, temperatures will be in the teens with blowing and drifting of the snow. Some may think it looks like a blizzard outside and it may darn well be classified as one when things are all said and done. If your out in the storm and not properly dressed, you are placing yourself at risk. If you look at the 60hr ETA, it's a blizzard in Philly and NYC with wind blown snow and temperatures in the single digits, just a dangerous situation.
Next update at 8am tomorrow morning and I know things will start to get interesting....
8 inches? Dumped? I though 8 inches of snow in Buffalo was called "flurries".

Guess I'd better food shop tomorrow and rent some videos! The kids (and hubby) are really hoping for a snow day on Monday. Our rector already told us at choir rehearsal tonight that the only person required to be in church on Sunday morning was him, and he's next door . . . Here's hoping we have some sledding snow!
Actually winter has been pretty good here. Only had 3 storms otherwise there has been grass everywhere.
Spring starts in March/April.
Syracuse gets more snow than us and the majority of the snow is in the southtowns.
In ski country, Buffalo has a bad name as snow capitol of the country.
One blizzard in 77 and now Buffalo has been labeled that.
I remember how they didn't have anywhere to put the snow in Philly, so they were dumping it in the river.
They had to stop after they created a dam.:)
Where I live they're saying 6-10" during the day and 4-7" Saturday night with more coming on Sunday. No accumulation known yet for Sunday. Looks like fun ... .
