NEW YORK -- Police arrested state Sen. Kevin Parker on Thursday after he allegedly punched a traffic agent who was writing him a ticket.
The Brooklyn Democrat was charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, police said. He was being held at the 67th Precinct stationhouse.
Witnesses told police the dispute began at about 3 p.m. after the agent found Parker's car double-parked on a Brooklyn street. When the agent started to write a ticket, the senator allegedly grabbed it, crumpled it up and threw it in his face.
During an ensuing struggle, Parker allegedly punched the agent. Police officers responding to a 911 call arrested the senator.
A message left at Parker's office was not immediately returned. No one answered the telephone at the local Democratic Party office.

Sickening; I pray that revolution comes soon.....I am disgusted with this state's politics and the way it steals every which way it can from the people.
he should be thrown right out of office.
Agreed!
The NY Dems are awfuyl. The state Party chairman just had a child out of wedlock. He's 72 years old. They are doing a good job appealing to regular law abiding God-fearing folks.
You want to know the funny part? Traffic enforcement in NYC aren't peace officers. There's a bill to make them peace officers, partly to discourage assaulting them, and the Senate passes it every year over Democrat objections, and the Assembly lets it die.
First, I think Parker was arrested a year ago at a demonstration in Albany. There was another Democratic Senator from New York City with a history of getting into it with the cops.
