He briefly speculated on it in a personal letter once. That's it.

I beleive you, but that's not my point. It's being taught as evidence of the way life originated in our public schools.
Who will correct the teachers?

Actually, he wrote of it in Origin of the Species. Of course, he didn't actually include it as part of the theory itself, but rather speculated that the process of evolution began after the first life forms had life "breathed into them by their Creator".

So, he discussed the Origin of Species. So, how did the species orginated, other than life? The Origin of Species is equivalent to speculating on the origin of life.
