"really, these are the people we need to have telethons and fundraising efforts for. not that I don't have compassion for the tsunami victims, but there needs to be a similar effort that gets as much media attention and charitable organization efforts for both the families of our KIA and those men who have returned home with significant injuries."
I agree
i give some money to paralyzed veterans organizations as often as i can but if i could find another like this i would gladly add it.

that organization that sends the letters signed by Tommy Franks (i forget the name), I gave to them. then there is the one that Ollie North is part of (I forget the name). But none of the "big name" charities that collect alot of $$$s seemed to be plugged into any effort regarding the needs of US military casualties.

Another idea is to donate to the VA hospitals. The VA's are bearing a heavier and heavier load. Yesterday, I heard a talk by our local VA hospital director and the VA has a huge task before it. Because of improvements in body armor, etc., more troops are surviving injuries that they wouldn't have survived in the past and this is causing the VA to have to make changes in how they operate. From what I understand, each VA hospital has a person who coordinates receipt of donations (both money and goods).

Just a thought.
