The dad's a weenie. If I were that kid, I would die of embarassment.

I'm just curious
when does the states control of your child end?
Wouldn't it be more convenient for you if they just built dormitories for them and kept them from birth till age 18?

If I was a summer homework-burdened classmate of this kid, I'd think the dad was a Hero.

From what I heard on the radio this morning it was the kid who initiated the whole thing and the father agreed so he's helping him.

How can you have homework over the summer? Last years classes are done, and next years classes have not started yet.
