My cousin's son is at The Citadel (kind of a slacker kid, but really strong in sports!). Their military program doesn't have the status of ROTC unless you specially enroll in ROTC. On the other hand, Virginia Tech's Corps of Cadets program is a real Army ROTC program, as is Texas A&M's.

Thanks. I know I have read articles with Pat Conroy discussing his time there, but I never knew that.

You're right. My nephew is in his sophomore year there; his freshman year was rough. Glad that's over.

The drill field on the Virginia Tech campus is so impressive, and it's very cool to see the ROTC cadets marching.
