55th Inauguration And Day's Events - Live Thread
where is this?
I cant figure that one out either, didnt even Kerry during the campaign praise Cheneys raising of his daughters?
they were in the 80's also(lawn chairs??) The first(major)show I remember seeing was DCI North at Pontiac Stadium(a dome stadium was no place for a Drum Corp show)back in 76(?).
The 70's were probably the premier decade for Drum Corp before "mickey mouse" and "broadway" took over.
Born and raised in military style band country in East Texas here. All my directors, college too, were march nuts. :)
I have fun identifying the marches during ceremonial events, in fact have played most all in the field or in concert. When its time to get down to the band performances, I put the TV straight on CSPAN and leave it so it is unblemished by commentators.
I studied music in college (saxophone - alto mainly, tenor a while, soprano in jazz band). Loved performing.
I was SO excited when they broke into the well known march "Americans We" just before the Pres did his oath.
That was our Encore my last semester in college band, when we were chosen for the top college concert spot at the statewide convention (TMEA). We took the last section double time, circus style! FUN!
It all started to go down hill when they removed the American Flag guard unit from the regulations. I think I'll post a thread in chat, we are way off topic here.
Agreed. This woman probably doesn't know that
Cheney's daughters were with them - throughout the campaign and today!
BurbankKarl: Marin through Sonoma Counties and of course San Francisco. (Just as they do at the end of the month when they take bikes to the streets!)
Where are they in L.A.?
I have LAPD, LASD and CHP all on and dont hear a protest....and watching the CHP CAD
Scanners may want to tune in. There will be a protest at the Federal
>Building, 11000 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA at 5:00pm. The Building
>Management is expecting as many as 5,000 people to attend. Wilshire Blvd.
>and Veteran Ave. will be closed at 3:30pm.

Heard on a radio broadcast from SF - supposedly gathering at civic center or planning to gather there.
Yes, and I wish someone would post a pic of her and that gown. WOW!!!
Ok, Freepers. Here is the big question.
Where was Teresa today, and even a bigger question than that? How come none of the networks or cables noticed?
Inquiring minds need to know!
Excellent! (BTW, "I think I still have a few of your albums")
Looks like we have a few drum corp folks here. Only makes sense. Drum Corp and Free Republic, can't get any more patriotic than that.
DCI fans! I am a big drum corps fan, was friends with some percussionists in high school that got me into it and been hooked ever since. We would go every summer to the competition in Houston.
I especially like the Madison Scouts and Phantom Regiment. And I have a good friend (that I made through a conservative website!) that was in Santa Clara Vanguard and is on their staff. :D
Very cool to see your posts!
I don't mind.
I'll sure let ya know, snugs, if I do find it.
If the Hate America Crowd shuts down the 405 during rush hour.....I will crack up (only because I am not driving that way)
