The protesters are upset because they have to STAY where they are now that Bush has passed; they wanted to be able to run "along" the route to keep it up the entire time.

In fairness to Ceci I think she's been pretty good today.

Remarking on the parade attendance she opines it may be a matter of people hearing such horror stories about long waits to get through security and such they didn't go out (though there's a good crowd, but not huge) and also the second time isn't as exciting to make the effort to be there in person.

I thought she's been on her best behavior today.

It's telling people that the president is close; it's so the people inside can come out.

They are saying that there is a HUGE crowd, some inside keeping warm. Hanging out windows, balconies, etc.
