Don't bring up Northern Ireland and Britain's resettlement of thousands of Protestants, the evictions during the potato famine, and on and on. Those idiotic, hatefilled parades through Irish neighborhoods by Orangemen, the institutionalized discrimination of Irish Catholics. The scurrilous Irish jokes in British papers, comedy shows that reinforce negative stereotypes. Take a deep breath, step back, and grow up.
Quite right. So the Americans of the Revolution saw it, and more than a few of their English contemporaries.
It was an Englishman, not two years off the boat, who propagandized for American independence in Common Sense.
