As intensely as I hate Jimmy Carter I question this story. Carter is driven by ego, lust for power and attention, and an obsessive self righteousness. I don't think the quest for money is in his makeup.
It depends on whether or how badly he NEEDS money.
I agree with you with regards to Jimmy and his personal wealth. However, he might have seen it as "a neat idea" that would let him fund some of his global activities while promoting the policy he believed him. It wouldn't be the first time someone made errors in judgment while trying to "do good".

Carter could be corrupted by lust for money just like anyone else. It goes right along with lust for power, position, etc. He grew up poor, like Clinton, so it would not surprise me in the least if he was on the take. The dem-lib-socialists are all the same. You can't trust any of them.

It may not be a quest for money as you say but it is certainly treasonous!! He's ALWAYS where he shouldn't be and he's ALWAYS saying things he shouldn't say at just the "right" moments to cause the most problems. He's NOT to be trusted.
