This thing ROCKS. No wonder we're being swamped by the Europeans.

With 840 unbathed Frenchmen aboard, all classes will smell like a pig sty.

1st class is staying at home and not have to fly or go to the airport.

Interiors are BFE: Buyer Furnished Equipment. That means how the interior is equipped is up to each airline. These are Airbus mockups designed to sell the airplane to the flying public. When the airlines get ahold of the airplane, they will fill it with seats as in picture 14: economy class, in order to make any money. Those first class space-eating beds with HUGE aisles? They will have to charge a FORTUNE in order to make them profitable. Spacious stores (with stock rooms) to sell duty-free items? Get real. When's the last time you bought over-priced duty free on the flight? I never have. They will never pay for themselves.
When the 747 first came out, there were all kinds of mockups and drawings showing bars and stores and lounges and pianos and pool tables and hot tubs and showers and weight rooms - like Branson is saying Virgin will have on their A380s. How many 747s have ANY of that in them?
I'll believe it when I see it Mr. Branson.

They're probably become for airlines what luxury cruise ships are to the ocean liners' business - pure comfort in the skies.

The A380 will go the way of the Concorde. Never show a profit, continue to lose money but keep flying so that the EU can save face.

There are well heeled folks who would pay a premium for comfort. What it lacks in the speed of a supersonic Concorde, it more than it makes up in the offered amenities.

Any airline can outfit their business class in leather - few do because it is not economical. It doesn't have an acceptable ROI (return on investment) unless you charge a fortune for the seat. Lufthansa (IIRC) started an all-business class operation from Franfurt to NYC with leather seats. Very specialized operation that they charged a pretty penny for. Not sure if they are still doing it.........

For the prices they will charge, I would rather fly Netjets.

What amenities are available to keep eurabian koranimals out of the cockpit?

How many 747s have ANY of that in themNot now. But there used to be the first class party lounge upstairs during the Pan Am days. I have flown in 747s many times including the 747-400 series. Still an awsome bird IMHO.

"There are well heeled folks who would pay a premium for comfort. I once flew with one other person from LA to Hong Kong on American in their First Class. We had two flight attendants all to ourselves. They had the lie-flat chairs/beds. It was very nice, but I don't know how they can make money on that considering there were about 12+ empty seats like ours and two flight attendants with little to do......if the A380 operators fill a significant portion of the airplane with those expensive space-eating beds and don't manage to fill them, they will quickly yank them and put in more seats they can sell cheaper.
