The time has long since past to officially purge this nasty, egotistical, left-wing dwarf from the party.

So is he going to demand that his police detail not carry weapons too or would that just be crazy talk?

They should disarm all of New York City, starting with the mayor and his security team...

Here, Here! Is there any facet of individual liberty or behavior this idiot doesn't want to intrude into?

It is not what is in a person's hand that counts, but what is in his mind. A gun is a tool. Any tool can be used to kill someone.

I wish the media would stop saying Bloomberg is a Republican. He is a Democrat who just got on the Republican ticket because the Democrat ticket was too crowded! He even said he's not a Republican!

That makes car makers responsible for drunk driving,

Cashiers responsible for robberies,

Forrest managers responsible for suburban sprawl,

AC mfgrs responsible for Legionaries Disease,

et-friggin-cetera.

If you want to see how stupid of an idea this is, simply substitute the word 'car' for the word 'gun'. After all, cars kill thousands more people each year than guns.

So when does the mayor plan on going after the folks who make Checker Cabs? Or Ford, GM, Diamler-Benz/Chrysler? After all, more than 40-thousand people a year are killed in auto accidents in the US. That's more than handguns, ain't it?

Mayor Bloomberg is a maggot. Ah. There, I've said and I'm feeling better for it.

"There's just no argument here. Guns kill people, it's time to get them off the street."

Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my gun.

Does this law also allow people to sue General Motors when they get hit by a drunk driver in a Chevy?

So who makes the guns that the NYPD uses? They will probably stop doing business in and with the city to reduce their liability exposure.

There must an election coming up for the Mayor. This whore politician should be thrown out of the Republican party. IMO

Isn't NYC a bleeding heart liberal bastion anyways? I mean he is only scoring points with athe liberal clap trap. Now if this BS passed in Crawford, that would really be a story!

Is there an exemption on Police weapons? What if a criminal was able to obtain a firearm from the police during a gun fight and committed a crime. I was not able to find any statistics but i have heard that it is quite common. If i was a manufacturer this would make me want to cease contracts with the NY city government. Does NYC sell its used weapons like many other cities do? If so, couldn't that make them liable as well?

IIRC, New York state is home to some gun manufacturing? But I guess the mayor thinks there's no current problem with industries leaving the state, so why not chase a few more away.
