My Mossberg is similar, 18" barrel, open choke, it's my self defense weapon...I took it pheasant hunting once though and it did fine, shocked the other guys with a long shot even. The Ithaca I got used, still paid plenty for it, I wanted it, since that model (no longer made), unlike the Browning OU's, fits my face. Finally got another barrel for the Mossberg, 28" with screw in chokes, so it qualifies as an actual hunting gun when that barrel is attached.

Agreed about less expensive firepower for the little guy.

"One measure, approved 43-2, would hold liable dealers nationwide who sell more than one gun to the same person within 30 days."

That seems to mean that a dealer can legally sell guns in say, VA, but be arrested and fined by a NYC court? I remember many years ago, Dad bought both my brother and me shotguns for Xmas...a true criminal, according to these fellows.

No way...its unconstitutional IMO, and these mofos know it.

Its all posturing...advance your agenda before the public...lower the bar..etc etc.

This is how the left plays the game...always pushing..looking for an opening...get an idea planted to be harvested later.

"This will set legal precedent that the entire nation has to follow NYC guidlines or be held liable."

Well, the upside to this is that the states where gay marriage is illegal will be able to prosecute people in Vermont or Massachusetts or wherever.

I thought of an upside to it, though;-)

True, it doesn't make sense that they could prosecute in other states.

Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my gun

It's killed more than all 8 of my guns combined. Although my shotgun has been used to kill a few innocent pheasants, although not nearly as many as the shotgun it replaced.

BTW, that's pheasants, not peasants!

If any guns are still produced in the US (And I doubt many are)

You're way wrong on that. Browning still makes guns in Utah, Colt in Connecticut. Ruger in Arizona, Smith and Wesson, Bushmaster, Aramalite/Olymica, DPMS, Rock River Arms, Kimber, the list is pretty darn long. Even Jennings (California of all places) All made in the USA. Even H&K and FN make guns in the US, for both the military and the civilian markets.

Dear firearms and ammunition manufacturers,

Since Bloomberg clearly believes that your products are a clear and present danger to the safety of New York City residents and visitors, in order to make NYC a safer place, I suggest you immediately stop all sales and service to New York City. Not just the few, heavily regulated gun stores, but to the NYC police department, as well as any other government agency that allows armed agents.

Think of it as your civic duty!

Mark

I couldn't walk in manhattan after dark for fear of my life.

My friend and I were robbed at knife point (stelleto)in Thompkins Square at about 4AM by two blacks and four Puerto Ricans in 1968. We were young (16-17) and went to NY to check up on some friends who ran-away to the Village. These guys were well into their twenties.

New York was an interesting visit, but I wouldn't go back into that jungle with anything less than a serious hand-cannon tucked into an easy access holster.

I noticed during my visit, the number of bench-sleeping bums that had large scars on their necks. It was all too common. Many of them were black as I recall. Came to find out later that the local yooots would occassionaly slash a sleeping bum's throat just for fun or perhaps to gain entrance into some group.

After they cleaned my pockets out (not much of a haul, maybe two bucks in change and a Zippo lighter) one of the Descendants of Slaves demanded my ring. I said 'No' as it held sentimental value to me(see First Love, see Unchained Melody by the Rightous Brothers for a clue), immediately, the Puerto Rican shoved the knife deeper into my neck. With our backs shoved toward a metal fence, (very similar to fencing used today around many condominiums) protecting who-knows-what, I could see my friend's eyes bulging in anticipation over what might come next, and surrendered my ring to the tall, skinny, Step-and-fetch-it who gladly removed it from my hand. That was the last time I'd ever see that Tiger's Eye ring again.

A couple of days later, we were headed home to Virginia on a Greyhound. I know my mom wanted to kill me, but couldn't. She was happy to have No.2 son back, and so was I. I don't believe I ever told her of all my experiences in the Big Apple. Thankfully, my parents were divorced at the time as my dad probably would have.

So, the mayor of one of the deepest and darkest of urban jungles our nation has ever produced thinks the natives should navigate the land unprotected. F*****g idiot cannot come close to describing Bloomberg.

New York, LA, Washington D.C., Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, San Francisco, Seattle, you name a major city and I can guarantee your chance of being a victim of crime rises ten-fold from anywhere else in the country. These are the last places on earth where people should travel unarmed. Screw these elitist b*stards who propose these schemes. Ducking into and out of a limosine to get from home to work and back with an armed guard is not the typical urban experience. Jimi Hendrix said it first: "Have you ever been, experienced?"

My hope is that a few of these elitists will encounter the 'jacking' of a lifetime which may open their eyes to the stupidity of their beliefs. Better them, than the thousands of innocents sacrificed on the alter of liberal sh*t-stupidness.

Thanks for the response.

My point in the posting was this: That, if there are any manufacturers in the US, the threat of unlimited liability brought on by laws that appear to extend liability for the misuse of the firearm out, onto the arms manufacturer, then that arms manufacturer will most likely cease serving the US market and take what manufacturing they do have to more favorable markets that don't have such onerous laws.

I freely admit I don't know who or how many arms manufacturers there are in the US at present. I just know that it is likely there will be far fewer of them if the legal environment is changed in the direction Bloomberg appears to be taking it.

You posted informing me that there are still many arms manufacturers operating in the US and I'm glad there are. My point is that they cannot survive in an environment of potential unlimited liability for use of their product; usage that they have no means of controlling.

...tonight when someone is killed someplace in NYC by a smith & wesson,...

Maybe you would disagree, but I have never observed a firearm of any manufacture, kill anyone by itself.

It may be used as a tool in fair hands or foul, but the person wielding it is the killer, not the tool.

Remember when Rudy Guiliani endorced CLINTON in 1996?

NY City Republicans are just a breeding ground for those crowded out of the Democrat Party.

Yes, actually. At least with Hillary, we know where she stands and she's in the enemy's camp. Bloomberg is an idiot of the highest order and should be booted from the RNC.

I urge everyone to contact firearms manufacturers and request that they stop doing business with any locality or state that is suing them or putting them in a spot like Bloomberg is. They need to take a hint from Ronnie Barrett and cut them off.

Mike
