PPJC Event Calendar

Description: Nazi war criminals, the international court that prosecuted them, and how the Nuremberg trial that gripped the world's attention 60 years ago might be relevant to our times will be the focus of a documentary film and discussion presented by Pacifica Peace People on Sunday afternoon, January 23, at the Sanchez Concert Hall in Pacifica.

The screening of "Nuremberg War Crimes Trial", a documentary by Court TV, will begin at 3 p.m. It is being cosponsored by Pacifica Performances.

The film recounts the 10-month trial that began in November 1945 in Nuremberg, Germany, to hold some of Hitler's top Nazi officials accountable for, among other things, crimes against humanity and waging an aggressive war.

The film provides a cautionary tale for the present. During a discussion following the screening, a Pacifica Peace People moderator will pose such questions as: Will state- or sectarian-sponsored hatred and violence against innocent peoples continue unabated, or will tolerance and justice prevail? Could our own country be held to account for torture at Abu Ghraib or in Afghan prisons, or for other war crimes that may come to light? What is the responsibility of individuals to ensure that crimes such as the Holocaust are never repeated in their names?

The film?s executive producer is Steve Johnson; senior director is Michael I. Butler. Parental discretion is advised.

A $5 donation is requested at the door, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Refreshments will be served.

I was listening to KPFA today (they were the only playing Condi's hearing live @ 6am)... during the commentary, they were actually being hard on Biden and Boxer for throwing softballs... that kinda tells you where they're coming from...

This group is actually from the city of Pacifica, I'm not sure if Pacifica radio is related, as they are stationed in Berkeley, I believe (like it matters)...

abu gharib was nothing - the terrorists should be more concerned with being prohibited from walking around with a burning pacifier that spews noxious fumes stuck in one's mouth.

Murdering 6 million people and burning them in ovens is a war crime.. Forcing men to get naked and wear panties on their head is not a war crime.

Well, as long as the Bush Administration is going to be accused of Nazi-like war crimes no matter what they do, they might as well round up these Pacifica people and gas them. < /sarcasm>

Our own military and political leadership are giving credence to the Abu-Graihab/Nuremburg Trials comparison by cowardly roasting our own troops just to satisfy the PC leftists. This is one horrendous message our leaders are sending to the troops and an even worse message to our young men contemplating joining the military to fight terrorists.

Naked Jewish women, some of whom are holding infants, wait in a line before their execution.

I doubt that Pacifica would suggest trying Kofi for UN war crimes in the Congo.

Joe Biden and that sick commie Barbera Boxer should be forced to look at that sick photo.

Somehow I don't think it would make a difference to them.

"American soldiers walk past rows of corpses removed from the barracks to their left."

Maybe Boxer should see this. But I doubt it would change that bitch's mind.

It wouldn't. I can understand that there are a lot of younger people who don't fully understand the horror of the Nazi crimes because of their public school education. But she and those like her have no excuse to make such a comparison.
