Dean uses inaugural to rail against Bush

WASHINGTON, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean is using Thursday's inaugural festivities as another chance to rail against George W. Bush, the Boston Globe said.

Dean, who is now running for chairman of the Democratic National Committee, is eschewing the bi-partisan unity traditionally in evidence on inauguration day to serve as host of "un-inauguration" house party fundraisers thrown by angry Democrats nationwide.

The money collected will be used, the Globe said Tuesday, to oppose Bush's policies.

"The Democratic Party will not win elections or build a lasting majority solely by changing its rhetoric, nor will we win by adopting the other side's positions," Dean said when he announced his candidacy for DNC chairman last week. "We must say what we mean -- and mean real change when we say it."

The chairmanship offers a quick route back to the political mainstream and Dean, according to a National Journal survey of committee members, goes into the Feb. 10-12 election with more support than any other candidate in the race. At the same time, his tactics -- Internet organizing and fund-raising, staged protests, sloganeering -- come uncomfortably close to those of the political fringe, the paper said, comparing Dean to former Minnesota Gov. Harold Stassen and U.S. Sen. Gene McCarthy, perennial presidential candidates, "seeking to relive their moments of glory like aged Norma Desmonds."

Dean shouldn't be trying to become the head of the DNC , he should be applying for a roll in the next Batman movie, as a comic villian...he's made for the part !

UNinauguration, huh. Guess they better get used to holding those - heading to hell in a handbasket will not win them any real inaugurations.
