I wouldn't worry about anything you read on Indymedia.

Is Indymedia a proxy for the John Birch society?

Remember that Indymedia is a global gathering of left-wing conspiracy theorist and virulent Anarchists.

I hope it's true.

After Stansfield Turner and Jimmy Carter prevented the CIA from obtaining intelligence through the efforts of criminals, the quality of intelligence obtained dropped drastically.

I'm sure that Markus Wolf and Yevgeny Primakov would have lots of useful information to share with the US, particularly as it relates to dissemination of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons capability.

Wolfe was born in the '20s and must be well past 80 by now. I seriously doubt he'd be up to working for the government if her were asked (which I doubt he was).

I tried to find additional sources about that.

But I didnt find a lot. Infowar links to Indymedia and Indymedia gives this: http://www.truthout.org/docs_04/printer_121404A.shtml and this url: http://www.newswithviews.com/iserbyt/iserbyt7.htm

Newswithviews links to http://www.americanfreepress.net/ as the original source. I couldnt find anything on American Free Press however.

I just noticed that the story has Wolfe down as head of Stasi - he was head of Foreign Intelligence.... this really seems thin.

His name is Markus Wolf and he's going to be 82 years old. I wouldn't worry about this.

And they give http://www.newswithviews.com/iserbyt/iserbyt7.htm as source, which is american.

That site claims that it was reported on American Free Press, which, you might guess it, is based in America, too.

Anyway, even if it was only reported in Indymedia UK would that change a damn thing?

Intelligence should be willing to talk to anyone. It's what they make of it that counts. Chertoff looks pretty reliable to me. I'd be a lot more worried if Tenet were doing this, but Tenet is gone, thank God.

I'd be willing to pay Putin to re-open the Gulag so we can send those a-holes from Guantanamo there, and any further jihad rats our boys catch. Let them send their complaints to the ACLU from Kolyma.
