Below is a link to an image of a portion of the aerial chart in the crash area. It is criss-crossed with MTRs (Military Training Routes) and is largely Military Operation Areas (MOA). If any civilian pilot goes cruising around there without knowing if these areas are "hot" he's looking for a close encounter with a military training aircraft.

I'd worry much more about stolen 18 wheelers than stolen planes.A stolen plane can be outfitted with crop dusting equipment, and fly over a full stadium or beach spraying sarin gas..

Hot dogging jet fighter pilots. The kids from the local AFB used to see how low they could go.

at 500 feet to discover crop dusters on approach between me and the runway but haven't seen to many at altitude.
I imagine that cropduster pilot said to himself, "Oh dear!" when he saw you in his rearview.

Just the words "crop duster" sends questioning chills.

A stolen plane can be outfitted with crop dusting equipment, and fly over a full stadium or beach spraying sarin gas.. Yeah. I heard that. Don't think it would work.
That Japaneese terror group spent serious money and had far better technology and brains, and didn't need to get their stuff across a border. And even in the crowded subway with no wind and zillions of people, they still only managed to kill a dozen or so.
An 18 wheeler gasoline tank truck parked on the Golden Gate bridge sounds just so much more Jihadist to me.
The fear of of little airplanes is way overblown.

The fear of of little airplanes is way overblown.Im sure thats what that bank in Tampa thought, too. But I agree, a tanker next to Golden Gate would be horrific and in line with the followers of allah's symbolism..

Also, from personal experience, civilian pilots, flying VFR, in small aircraft, tend to be the ones flying through military training areas, unaware of the dangers they are putting themselves and others in.Not this private pilot! I avoid active MOAs like the plague. I will admit that some of my fellow pilots are blissfully unaware of the potential risks, though. When a light Cessna or Piper mixes it up with military hardware, the military will generally win out - or at least the pilots will survive.

Being scared of little airplanes, if you don't have any knowledge of cropdusting and cropdusters, is very natural. In fact it appears to be contagious.
Hell, I'd be there are people that take the subway every day that think nothing of it, but a cropduster crash or a report of a stolen cropduster and they begin quaking in their boots. Nevermind the fact that a cropduster is about as inefficient as you can get in regards to delievering biological or chemical weapons, but a nice enclosed subway....I'll just say I'm glad I don't have to take a subway anywhere.

Sheppard AFB is where Mr. RR went through basic training.
He says a crop duster at that height is uncommon, especially this time of year.
I can't help but think sumpins' up. Of course, I'm a bit paranoid.

Well considering how many died in the plane crash in Tampa..I think what they were trying to say is that people need to worry less about cropdusters (it's not like TV/movies where cropdusting looks precise and effortless) and more about something like a tanker on the Golden Gate or an attack in a subway.
Cropdusters are not a good weapons delivery system . You could do a helluva lot more damage with a gallon of a chemical or biological weapon in a subway or mall or other enclosed space than you could with 50 gallons in a cropduster.

Me too, should have read further. But I'm cooking for a crowd tonight and just jumping around. I shall restrain myself in the future.
Coco, thanks for the level headed info.

God how I love FR!!
Where else can you get this level of input? This is the only place I know of where we get experts who not only know about the subject matter, but flew one! (I assume you did, based on your post).
There is more expertise on this thread than in an entire "investigative report" by any of the MSM (Fiox included).
If I was a reporter, I would come straight here to get started on any article requiring any degree of detailed and esoteric knowledge.
