I haven't been in touch with them for many years; I do know her mother had moved to Virginia from Egypt many years ago (I'm hoping she's still alive). Her father was an important man in Egypt (I can't remember exactly what he did...), but resided in both countries (here in Virginia and in Alexandria area, Egypt). Very sweet, kind people. Her father was more the old ways of the Muslims....but he must be more modern, as he does "allow" his wife (or did) to live in the States, permanently. Obviously, they would have been upper class Egyptians.
